Afterschool Nanny for Two School-Age Children | Bed-Stuy / Clinton Hill, Brooklyn |$35-40/hour

Position Overview 

Brooklyn Manny & Nanny is seeking a warm, high-energy afterschool nanny for a wonderful family in the Bed-Stuy / Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn. Our client is looking for someone earlier in their career who brings real initiative to the afternoon — the kind of caregiver who plans a baking project, an escape room, a neighborhood adventure, or an ice cream run rather than waiting for direction. The household includes two school-age children, ages 12 and 9, and a small family dog. 

Schedule & Location 

Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM, with 22.5 guaranteed hours per week. Full-day coverage is required on school closure days and breaks (tentative: exact hours to be confirmed). The position is located in the Bed-Stuy / Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn and is easily accessible by public transportation. Start date: (tentative). 

Responsibilities 

● Provide attentive, engaging afterschool care for two children, ages 12 and 9

● Handle afternoon school pickup for the younger child; the older child arrives home by bus 

● Offer homework help and academic support, primarily for the 9-year-old and for both children as needed 

● Prepare meals and snacks for the children 

● Manage children's laundry 

● Light tidying of the children's spaces and common areas 

● Transport the children to activities including soccer and tutoring, using public transit (buses preferred) and rideshare as needed 

● Manage screen time and keep the children engaged in off-device activities, outings, and creative projects 

● Plan and curate the afternoon independently, suggesting age-appropriate adventures and activities

● Walk the family's small dog when comfortable doing so 

● Communicate clearly and consistently with the parents 

Requirements 

● Professional childcare experience with school-age children (tentative: minimum years to be confirmed) 

● High energy and the stamina to keep pace with a 12- and 9-year-old ● Strong initiative and creativity in planning afternoons without direction ● Social, warm, and easy to talk to — more "big sister/big brother" than 

traditional nanny, and genuinely interested in what the kids are into ● Confident navigating Brooklyn by bus with two children 

● Comfortable and patient with a small dog who can be slow to warm up to new people 

● Reliable, consistent, and punctual 

● CPR and First Aid certification (tentative: required or preferred) ● Interest in occasional travel with the family is a bonus, though not required ● Strong, verifiable references 

● Legal authorization to work in the United States 

Compensation & Benefits 

● Rate: $35-$40 per hour, based on experience 

● 22.5 guaranteed hours per week (approximately $787-$900 weekly base)

● Additional hours on school closure days and breaks paid at the same rate (tentative) 

● Paid time off, paid holidays, and sick days (tentative: to be confirmed)
