Position Overview

Brooklyn Manny and Nanny is seeking a reliable, naturally organized afterschool nanny for a warm Park Slope family with two young boys. This is a school-year position running September through June, built around afternoon pickups, activities, dinner prep, and keeping the household running smoothly. The family is looking for a true professional: someone who shows up on time every time, is joyful and present with the children, and leaves the home better than they found it.

Family/Household

You will care for two boys, ages 2.5 and 5. Both parents are home much of the day, so this role calls for someone self-directed and comfortable working independently alongside family members. The household will be welcoming a new baby in the spring, though the afterschool role remains focused on the two older boys. There is one friendly labradoodle in the home, so candidates should be comfortable around dogs.

Schedule & Location

Monday through Friday, approximately 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with one weekday extending to approximately 10:00 PM for a standing date night. Approximately 25 guaranteed hours per week (tentative). The commitment runs September through June, with a start date as soon as possible.

Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn, easily accessible by public transportation.

Responsibilities

  • School pick-up at two separate locations

  • Transportation to and supervision at afterschool activities

  • Preparing and baking dinner for the children while they play

  • Age-appropriate play, engagement, and routine support for a toddler and a kindergartener

  • Keeping the household running: tidying, resetting shared spaces, laundry, and general order

  • Building tidy-up habits with the boys so cleanup is part of the daily routine

  • One evening per week through bedtime for a standing parent date night

  • Clear, consistent communication with parents about the children's day

Requirements

  • Professional childcare experience with toddlers and school-age children

  • Exceptional reliability and punctuality, above all else

  • Naturally tidy and organized, with genuine ownership of household order

  • Warm, creative, and joyful with children while maintaining clear professional boundaries

  • Self-directed and comfortable working with parents home during the day

  • Comfortable with dogs

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong, verifiable references from comparable positions

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Compensation & Benefits

  • $50 per hour

  • Approximately 25 guaranteed hours per week (tentative)

  • Approximately $1,250 weekly

  • Paid federal holidays

  • Overtime paid at time and a half for any hours beyond 40 per week

  • Position classification: Part-time
