Position Overview

Brooklyn Manny & Nanny is seeking a dynamic, energetic caregiver for a wonderful DUMBO family. This unique part-time position offers the opportunity to build meaningful connections with a 14-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother, providing both friendship and reliable support during an important time in their lives. The ideal candidate will be someone the teens genuinely think is cool - a positive role model who can engage authentically while providing professional childcare.

Schedule & Location

Phase 1 - Lighter Coverage (February 1 - March 31st): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 2:40 PM - 6:00 PM (approximately 10 hours/week) School pick-up, transportation to soccer practice at Sunset Park (4:00-5:30 PM), and return home

Phase 2 - Heavier Coverage (Starting April 1): 5 days per week with flexible schedule Either Monday-Friday OR Monday/Tuesday/Friday + weekends 2:30 PM - 8:00 PM (approximately 27.5+ hours/week) Includes 4 overnight stays per month (candidate will have their own private room)

DUMBO, Brooklyn - easily accessible by public transportation

Responsibilities

  • Provide after-school care and oversight for both children

  • Pick up from school and transport to activities via public transportation

  • Light meal preparation for the children

  • Homework help and academic support

  • Build genuine rapport and serve as a positive mentor, especially for teenage daughter

  • Manage evening routines and prepare children for bed

  • Overnight supervision approximately 4 nights per month (daughter is independent and sleeps through the night)

  • Coordinate schedules and communicate effectively with parent

  • Create a supportive, engaging environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with teenagers and tweens - this is essential

  • Fresh, energetic personality with authentic connection skills

  • Pop culture savvy and relatable to a 14-year-old girl but can set boundaries

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to assist with homework across subjects

  • Patient, understanding approach to adolescent development

  • Mature judgment and professional boundaries

  • Strong references from previous families

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $35/hour

  • Overnight rate: Appropriate overnight compensation

  • Approximately 10 hours/week during Phase 1 (Feb-March 31st)

  • Approximately 27.5+ hours/week during Phase 2 (starting April 1st)
